Robert Roberg

1943 -

Robert Roberg was a street corner preacher affiliated in Nashville, where he warned passersby about their future existence in the netherworld. These people were doomed, yet he was determined and dogged on his mission from Yahweh to save them. Usually, he was more likely to be physically and verbally abused than heeded. Nevertheless, he was undeterred. Roberg, developed an edgy interpretation of scripture. He thought that people were “blinded by so many centuries of dogma,” who would miss the heavenly kingdom. His life changed one day when out of desperation he picked up chalk and illustrated the meaning of scripture on the sidewalk. Suddenly people stopped, looked and even paid attention to his preaching. He found fault with the Christianity and came to reject the Trinity, a virgin birth, and that Jesus was God. Finally, he left the church and stopped saying he was a Christian. He still goes out on the street corners with his art to dialogue with people, but not to save them.
