The 26 Highwaymen
The author of seminal books about the Collection's artists, "The Highwaymen: Florida's African-American Landscape Painters" and four other books on Florida's Highwaymen artists, Gary Monroe identified 26 painters, who are recognized in the Florida Hall of Fame at the State's Capitol.  Whereas works by only a few of these artists are generally shown, this exhibition offers a fuller survey of the Highwaymen's unprecedented accomplishment.

Greatest Hits
The Highwaymen did not set out to be gallery artists; African-Americans didn't have that opportunity in the South of their lifetimes. They were businesspeople who painted quickly with a sort of mass production approach. Yet, they weren't making mindless cookie-cutter works; their best paintings are original and inspired, spirited and beautiful. This exhibition shows the unique aesthetic these artists arrived at through their shared sensibilities.

The Elite Eight
These eight artists are central to establishing the Highwaymen's own, highly personal aesthetic. This exhibition compares and contrasts the ways they treated similar subject matter.
